SAFE Wildlife Rescue ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, and your rights in relation to it. We handle personal information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

- Contact and identity details — your name, email address, phone number, and postal/delivery address.

- Organisation details — a company or organisation name where you provide one, and (for those claiming a volunteer discount) the organisation you volunteer for and your role in it.

- Order and transaction details — the products you order, size and halo-colour preferences, delivery or pickup selections, order history, and correspondence about your order.

- Payment information — see Section 4. We do not collect or store your full card number.

- Enquiry and interest details — information you provide through our contact form, pre-order/register-interest forms, waitlist or subscription forms, or when you email or call us.

- Website usage information — information collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use our website (see Section 8).

2. HOW WE COLLECT IT

We collect personal information directly from you — when you place an order, complete a form on our website, subscribe to updates, contact us by email or phone, or speak with us in person (for example, at an event or conference). Where practical, we collect it directly from you rather than from third parties.

3. WHY WE COLLECT AND USE IT

We use personal information to:

- process and fulfil your orders, and arrange delivery or booth pickup;

- issue receipts and communicate with you about your purchase;

- respond to your enquiries and provide customer support;

- manage warranty claims and returns;

- send you updates, news or offers where you have asked to receive them (see Section 7);

- maintain business and financial records, and meet our legal obligations; and

- improve our products and services.

We will only use your personal information for the purposes for which it was collected, for a related purpose you would reasonably expect, or where you have consented, or as otherwise permitted or required by law.

4. PAYMENTS

Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider (Stripe). Your card details are entered directly with the payment provider and are not collected or stored by us. Where you pay by bank transfer, we receive only the information necessary to identify and reconcile your payment. Please review the payment provider's own privacy policy for how it handles your information.

5. WHO WE SHARE IT WITH

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with third parties only as necessary to run our business, including:

- our website hosting and online-store provider (Hostinger);

- our payment provider (Stripe);

- delivery and courier providers, where you choose delivery;

- email or marketing service providers we use to send communications; and

- professional advisers, or government or regulatory bodies, where required or authorised by law.

We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle your information appropriately.

6. OVERSEAS DISCLOSURE

Some of our service providers (including our hosting and payment providers) may store or process personal information on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. MARKETING AND YOUR CHOICES

We will only send you marketing communications (such as news or product updates) where you have opted in or would reasonably expect to receive them. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or by contacting us at rhiannan@safewildliferescue.com.au. We will action opt-out requests promptly.

8. COOKIES AND ANALYTICS

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help the site function, remember your preferences, support the shopping cart and checkout, and understand how the site is used. You can manage cookie preferences through the consent options presented on our website and through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect how the website works, including the checkout.

9. SECURITY

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. RETENTION

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as required to meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations. When it is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

11. ACCESSING AND CORRECTING YOUR INFORMATION

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time. In some cases we may need to verify your identity, and there are limited circumstances where we may be unable to provide access, in which case we will explain why.

12. CHILDREN

Our products and website are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

13. COMPLAINTS

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below and we will do our best to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

14. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on our website, and the "last updated" date above shows when it was most recently revised.
